For a while now, my dad and I have been planning on buying car that I can use. The car I had in mind was a Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk4. Those are roughly ,000-,000, which is affordable for normal people. But I was just showing my dad a few pictures of other cars that I think are nice. I showed him 2006/2007 the Jetta GLI. He was really into that. I told him that it was roughly, ,000. I know that is a lot of money (atleast for me and my families budget.) I do think it is a nice car but, I’m not so much of fan of sedans. If that’s the case, being a guy into GTI’s I showed him the GTI Mk5. I told him it’s a few thousand cheaper. He said he didn’t like the shape of it. What does it matter to him? He lives in Vegas. I’m in LA. So we actually went down to the dealership to look around. Saw a few things I liked. But standing next to the GTI Mk5 and sitting in the Mk4, I felt like that was the closest I’ll ever get to them. There must be some way for me to convince him.

Truthfully the only thing a GTI offers is a "Close Ratio gearbox" and on MK 4 you don’t even know if it will have that(some didn’t) If The ones you look at don’t shift like a motorcycle take a pass as you aren’t getting the real GTI experience anyway.
I was shocked when I found out that they sold MK II, III, and IV GTI’s with the economy gearbox. Just made me sick.

sounds like the automatic opening system has failed sadly un lss u start taking the inner pannels off and trying to fix it, which of the car in in warrenty would invalidate it. best left to the pros……………. sorry not what u wanna hear…… might be pricey. get a quote then shop around.

Try checking the rubber boot that the wires that go into your door run through, look and see if there is any damage to the wires inside the boot, if so you just saved yourself a ton of cash. If not, then do what devilhue says and take it to a professional mechanic.
